Most people have never heard of taverns, or loose meat sandwiches, or maid-rites. If you have ever eaten one though you will never forget it. Taverns are a sandwich, generally found in the midwest, made from seasoned ground beef. In my case I used ground turkey. Taverns are a quick and easy dinner to make every night, but especially on halloween. On halloween night all you want to do is get back outside to walk with your friends and family, and working in the kitchen does not sound like a lot of fun. Taverns can be made ahead of time and kept warm in a warmer or crock pot. If you are having friends over setting up a toppings bar is a great accompaniment. So trick or treat, and enjoy.
For this recipe you will need to use a knife, and the stove. If you are not allowed to use a knife, or stove by yourself you can have a grown up help.
